Color Wheel is a series in which we identify a trending color in art, and post a daily image that illustrates its popularity. This week’s color is blonde.
If you haven’t heard of blonde art dealer and “Pop princess” Holly Solomon, then you may soon. A current exhibition split between Pavel Zoubok and Mixed Greens evaluates her nurturing role in the seventies and eighties SoHo art world. She is remembered fondly by writers for “lavish artist soirees” and her colorful “anti-modernist values.”
Her sensibility is evidenced through the artist list, which includes people like Mary Heilmann, Nam June Paik, William Wegman, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Andy Warhol, the art world’s most noted blonde of all time.
Horray For Hollywood! is up through February 8th.
