I’m heading to Beat Nite this evening. The plan is to visit a couple of handpicked Bushwick spaces that will be open late. For this iteration of the event, gallerist/artist/curator Austin Thomas has chosen the spaces. Thomas runs Pocket Utopia, a space founded in Bushwick and now located in the Lower East Side. It was her work that first brought me out to Bushwick galleries back in 2007, so I trust her.
Tonight’s roster includes first time participants Orgy Park, Parallel Art Space, and Studio 10 along with Beat Nite mainstay English Kills.
There’s also an after party slated at The Narrows between 10 and 12. I’ll be sitting that one out, a crime for which only the Guggenheim’s Young Collector’s Party can be blamed. Too much champagne can shorten one’s night life the day after.
