Committee to Save Cooper Union from shane kandy on Vimeo.
Who wants to hear Cooper Union’s president Jamshed Bharucha explain why he spent $325,000 on his inauguration celebration, just one month before proposing tuition? Or hear the Cooper Union’s board of trustees justify spending $167 million on an extravagant new building the school couldn’t afford? Then it might be worth chipping in a few bucks to support the Committee to Save Cooper Union’s upcoming court battle with the school. If nothing else, we may finally get some public acknowledgement of bad decision-making.
Earlier this year, the group of concerned alumni, students, and faculty filed a lawsuit against Cooper Union’s Board and President for violating its fiduciary duties and the school’s charter. The affidavit details wasteful spending, murky decision-making and gambling the endowment on “volatile hedge-fund investments.”
Apparently, people are not ready to take this. At this writing, Save Cooper Union is $22,000 short of their $150,000 goal. C’mon Internet!
