GIF of the Day: The Case of the Mystery Hypno Butt

Truly one of the most captivating GIFs of all time, one could stare at this butt forever and still have so many questions. Namely, where did it come from? A quick reverse-Google-image-search yielded no information other than the name “Hypno Butt”. It has circulated everywhere from Turkish humor chat rooms to Dutch soccer hooligan message boards. Whose butt is this? A strange zebra/woman hybrid melting into the alternate Earth she inhabits? A young man standing alone in a dark hotel room, caressed only by headlights from a freeway penetrating Venetian blinds? An ideal sexless figure born from pure achromatic light who would turn around to reveal nothing but another equally perfect ass in place of vulgar genitalia? We may never know. Perhaps a butt this beautiful could only have been born from the very internet itself, like Aphrodite emerging from the sea.

Hypno Butt, we salute you.

Regarding the HypnoButt™ no name/artist but more info: A quick search on TinEye’s reverse image search tool shows the oldest version created to date back to March 28, 2013 and goes to a link on an Eastern European (Russian?) message board. The image URL connects to a LiveJournal site named “barma_glott” and that’s about all I got right now. LIveJournal URL: http://bit.ly/1HoMJrO and the TinEye search results order by date are here: http://bit.ly/1B4SLfG

Thank you sir! I have found what appear to be older versions of it when I search by site on google image search, but I can’t tell if they were added later than the websites were published?

Tough to say. If you are using Mac OS X or Linux, one thing you can do if you feel comfortable around the “Terminal” is to get the exact URL of an image in question and then run “curl -I [full image URL]” from the command line to get the headers for that URL. One of the headers should be called “Last-Modified” and that usually will correlate to the time the image was created, modified or even uploaded to the server. So on that LiveJournal URL I get “Wed, 04 Sep 2013 15:21:26 GMT” after running “curl -I” on that URL. Try the same technique for other URLs for images you are finding and maybe you will hit paydirt.

That said, I wish you well in your journey to find out who created HypnoButt™!
