I guess the say, “when in Rome” don’t apply to President Hassan Rouhani of Iran. Italy covered up nude statues in anticipation of his arrival. Statues in a corridor leading to the grand hall in Rome’s Capitoline Museum were in encased in what looks like pedestals ahead of a news conference slated for Rouhani and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi of Italy.
Naturally, this decision has drawn quite a bit of criticism, along with a few good GIFs. While we don’t support the decision to hide art, we are fans of the products this controversy has created.
