Philadelphia Museum of Art Offers Membership Program to Artists

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Artists rejoice! The Philadelphia Museum of Art is offering an annual discounted membership for working artists for $40. It’s a wonder that only a handful of institutions have similar programs. Until February 28th, the museum is running a promotion that knocks that price down to $25! For comparison, MoMA’s artist membership fee is $35/year (everyone in New York has signed up for that, right?).

What’s more, all of the roughly 2,000 living artists in the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s permanent collection will be given a free lifetime membership. But for those of us not yet acquired by the museum, all we have to do is show proof that we work in a medium collected by the institution. That can mean anything from an Instagram account with photos of your paintings to a professional website.

So go to Philly! See a Duchamp! For the next five days, a yearlong artist membership is the same price as the suggested admission to The Met for one measly day!
