Art Fag City is seeking administrative interns.

Ideal administrative candidates have a strong interest in visual art and digital media, are proficient in Excel and Quickbooks, and possess excellent attention to detail.

Interns will work directly with AFC Editorial Director Paddy Johnson and Programs Co-ordinator Susan DeSeyn. The position offers valuable hands-on experience in the fast-growing world of digital media, and in-depth insight into a prestigious online publication and non-profit. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend private tours and panel discussions as well as contribute original content to our social media sites and blog.

Our previous interns have gone on to full-time positions at ArtINFO, Rhizome, Gawker, and the Dia Foundation, among others. They were capable, motivated, often brilliant individuals who left AFC ready to make their mark on the art world. If you want to join them, get in touch.

Administrative Intern duties include:

  • Basic invoicing and data entry.
  • Helping put together events, along the lines of our SPRNG BRK benefit or F.A.G. Bar.
  • Updating and managing social media accounts.
  • Corresponding with artists.
  • Logistics planning for exhibitions
  • Assistance with grant writing
  • Sourcing animated GIFs
  • Post office runs.

Familiarity with or deep knowledge of GIFs would be a fantastic bonus in a candidate.

Applicants should expect to make a minimum commitment of 8 hours per week. You should live in New York—we’re based in DUMBO, and we’ll want to see your face regularly. Candidates who have or are working towards a degree in journalism, art history, or arts administration are preferred. This position is unpaid.

If interested, please e-mail a cover letter, a resume, and your availability to paddy@artfcity.com with the job title you are applying for “Administrative Intern Application”—as the subject line. Application deadline: September 9th, 2016
