Fame is a fickle food. Despite Bravo’s Work of Art finding certifiable Great Artistâ„¢ Abdi Farah no more than twelve months ago, they’re now looking for the next Great Artistâ„¢ – of all the nerve! Season 2 of the reality show starts tonight at 9 pm, and our Supplementary Program Guide has all the information you need to- well, to have slightly more information.
There’ve been a few changes. Firstly, the show suffers the loss of Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, who was one of only two credible judges last year (Jerry Saltz being the second, Bill Powers being the clueless bro). Second, we’ve got a new set of 15 artists, and they’ve each got a few more bullet points to their resumes than the selection last year. The prize, though, remains the same: $100,000 and a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum.
It’s got us all excited, and it’s not just us. One possible measure of industry anticipation for the series: Jerry Saltz is offering $8600 a head to anyone willing to tune in.
In the spirit of offering a little predictive research, we've repeated our tradition of investigating each contestants pre-existing art world credibility and digging up dirt. In each profile we provide work evaluations, career highlights, character assessments, and yes, typecast names. Click on the images below for each contestant's writeup.

“for the record”…if that is what this is…I met Jazz-minh after I was on the show last year, as I did tons of others, when someone brought her to my “viewing party”… and she took a fun bunch of pics off the TV as we watched.  Your posterizing us as “friends” seems to be insinuating something.  I know Jazz-minh!   I didn’t recommend her for the show, and actually had no idea she’d auditioned. We just all cross paths here, so why post a gigantic pointless picture?Â
I knew there were plans for a second season, but I didn’t know it had actually been produced and given a premier date. Last night, even! Also just to pick nits, there was only one black guy on the last season but there were two black artists, the second being Amanda, who came out on top by getting tossed off that wreck in the first episode. And din’t Saltz say he wasn’t going to do a second season? I’ve been so out of the loop. I still think they should’ve hired you.
i love this. i loved it last year too. thanks.
I loved reading all these bios. Thanks.
