Party With Us: The Art Fag City Rob Pruitt Art Awards and Auction*

by Paddy Johnson on February 3, 2012 AFCRPAAaA*

I know it sounds too good, too absurd, to be true, but believe it. We’re actually launching The Art Fag City Rob Pruitt Art Awards and Auction* this February 23rd. We’re actually hosting an auction with Simon de Pury, in collaboration with Site/109. Attendees will actually see performances by Nate Hill and Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw. Prizes will actually be decided by a jury of Anton Vidokle, William Powhida, and Jen Dalton.

Buying a ticket now is absolutely essential because space is limited.

A rundown of what’s in store:

  • Auctioneer Simon de Pury, will auction off experiences and work by AIDS 3D, Greg Allen, John Baldessari, Saul Chernick, Bruce High Quality Foundation, John Giorno, Debbie Harry (yes, that one), Johnny Reinhold, and Scott Kilgour, Richard Kern, Marilyn Minter, Stephen Petronio, Alec Soth, Hennessy Youngman, and more
  • Performances by Nate Hill and Jen Catron and Paul Outlaw
  • Food
  • Drinks
  • Music
  • and special guests!

The ceremony will honor the winners of the Faggies, our inaugural awards celebrating New York’s most determined and dedicated. Soon, we’ll learn:

Who used their genitals best this year?
Who spent the most time doing nothing?
Who is the art world’s best Jerry?
Who is 2012’s most ubiquitous person?
(and most importantly)
Who is 2012’s Most Powerful Person in the Art World, by bench press?

Nominees will be announced Monday at 10:00 am sharp.

In-kind donations from Abrams Books, ArtCat/Idiom, Collectrium, Double Triple, Independent Curators International, The L Magazine, Nectar Ads, Roberta’s, Skyframes, Site/109, and Yerba Buena
