New Museum Announces List of Artists in 2015 Triennial

by Corinna Kirsch on November 14, 2014 Newswire

With curators Ryan Trecartin and Lauren Cornell, we expected the New Museum’s 2015 triennial, a survey of early-career artists from around the globe, to be somewhat digital, somewhat funny. Now that the artist list has been released, it’s safe to say we guessed correctly—but how could we have known just how balls-out the New Museum would be going with this one? Artists niv Acosta, Juliana Huxtable, and Aslı Çavuşoğlu were given production and research residencies; collective K-Hole crafted an ad campaign for the biennial, “Extended Release”; Antoine Catala’s updated peace sign has been commissioned as a GIF and will be shown as a sculpture in the galleries; and artsy talk-show host/animator Casey Jane Ellison will shoot a new video in the exhibition. A ton of new work, in and out of the galleries—this doesn’t sound at all like the Whitney Biennial. We are down with that.

If you’re excited like we are, read on to see the full list of all 51 artists and collectives participating:
