Good news readers! If you’re one of the next 50 people to buy a ticket to the Art F City Goth Benefit, you get a limited edition t-shirt out of the deal. This isn’t any ordinary t-shirt. We worked with designer Phillip Niemeyer to produce this design, which pairs the famous logo of the Bauhaus School of Design—later, appropriated and popularized by the goth band, Bauhaus, with the Art F City Goth Opera logo. Perfectly balanced, this design represents the brave spareness within the best Modernist work, with the courage imbued within goth culture and the art world at large. But act fast. There are only 50 t-shirts and they won’t be available for long.

We are a people in mourning. A dark shadow has been cast from Gotham’s blackest tower, stretching across the land. We lament at its doorstep.

We, the nation’s bloggers, journalists, artists, and critics were some of the first to cry. But our cries went unheeded. Now we must paint our lips in the darkest of hues and adorn our bodies with the garments of bereavement. It is time for our sadness to be made visible.

It is time for a Goth Opera.

In an era when independent journalism couldn’t be more critical, Art F City will throw its first goth opera to benefit this essential work, featuring the rich, versatile 3+ octave voice of Joseph Keckler.  Like a black velvet hood, our event will instill an element of mystery opulence—all in support of independent journalism and the arts in 2017.

Trump gave less to his foundation than AFC’s annual programming budget. Let’s show him how it’s done. If our supporters can beat Donald Trump’s own donation of $30,000, before election day, the first 100 donors get a William Powhida Drumpf print!

AFC Fall Fundraiser Extended | Cue Art Foundation Gala Tonight | NURTUREART Benefit Next Week

by Paddy Johnson on November 4, 2015
Thumbnail image for AFC Fall Fundraiser Extended | Cue Art Foundation Gala Tonight | NURTUREART Benefit Next Week

A few fundraiser related notes:

  • We have extended our fall campaign for Independence to November 18th so everyone has a chance to donate. At this point, we have 80 backers and only $5,400 to raise. Just imagine if a donor purchased that tattoo we made available on Michael Anthony Farley’s butt for $5000! We’d be only $400 away from meeting our goal. Help us make this happen! There are plenty of perks to choose from – many of which are disappearing quick in the final days of this fundraiser. [Indiegogo]
  • Meet us at The Cue Art Foundation for their annual gala and benefit auction. Cue offers artists exhibitions, art education programs and young writer support. We like all three. It’s our first time attending a benefit by this organization so we can’t wait to see what they do.[Cue Art Foundation]
  • NURTUREart will hold my favorite benefit of the year next week, November 9th and 10th! I like this benefit because it’s filled with cool, down to earth people who are super excited about art. Every time I’ve visited people can’t stop talking about the art they’ve picked up. The fundraiser helps the artist community exhibition space pay their bills for the year, so it’s super important for them too. Support them today! [NURTUREart]

The moment you’ve been waiting for has arrived: the revolution has begun. There’s hope on the horizon for independent voices, artist-run spaces, and emerging artists. Corrupt institutions, the forces of art-world-evil, and counter-revolutionary art press face a new challenge to their regime: our Fall Fundraiser is live.

Help us liberate you.

Donate on our Indiegogo page and receive fabulous thank-you gifts: Matthew Barney Lip Balm, studio visits, limited-edition artwork, and much more!
